Mike Beach - A True Music Lover at Heart - by Preshias Harris for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show

A true music lover at heart, Mike Beach was born just outside Indianapolis, Indiana, in the small inner-city town of Beech Grove and grew up in Franklin, Kentucky.  He wasn’t even out of elementary school and he was already involved in music with the school band. “I can’t tell you why, but I was drawn to the trumpet,” he says.  “I played for ten years until I picked up the guitar.”

Mike was raised in a family that he describes as very tight, supportive and loving, with music ever-present.  “I remember spending some time with piano at a very young age with my dad and on a generic little plug-in air organ,” he recalls with a smile.

His parents always had country music playing in the car on the radio.  When it came to records or on 8-tracks (yes, 8-tracks!) it was often 70s disco and 80s rock. In his teens, he discovered the fun of 90s rap and Debbie Gibson, NKOTB, Vanilla ICE.  Then Mike’s musical tastes circled back to Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney and George Strait.

“I have so many memories (memories are what we hold onto in everything) from there,” Mike says.  “Heartbreaks, to love, to dreams, to family, to fans, to friends.”

Music has played a big part in Mike’s life with the emphasis on country and southern rock.  “Two artists that have always been there fueling the fires for me are Garth Brooks and Kenny Chesney.  Garth brought so much love for live shows and his songs just seemed to always relate to me ... to my soul.”

Mike may have been influenced by some of the best artists in country music, but he is definitely a unique artist in his own right. When it comes to his own music, he is adamant that he will always be true to himself. “When I perform, I don't ever mimic anyone.  I focus on the melodies and just let my voice take it from there,” he says with a smile. “Finding my stage voice, which is when you can pretty much put your own style into any and every song you perform and it sounds like me!  This was the most difficult part for me and now that has evolved into my voice, my style and… well, me as an artist.”

From a personal level Mike says, “Being a performer has been one of the best blessings of all.  It has changed my life in every way. To hear someone say after a show, ‘MAN YOU KILLED IT’ and not, ‘Man, you sound just like this or that artist ...’  That has been a pretty great moment!”

“There were so many songwriters I had always looked up to before I even realized it, before I even knew their names,” he says.  Even before he moved to Nashville he was already realizing the value of how songs are written, recorded, and put out to radio.  “I was already a fan of several songwriters including but not limited to Wendall Mobley, Neil Thrasher, Monty Powell, Chris Wallin and others.  I would perform their songs hundreds of times. I just hold them in such high regard,” he added.

Mike’s songs show that he knows what it’s like to go through life’s ups and downs. Mike loves the energy and honesty that comes across during his live shows, too. His music is true to the bone. Mike has always had several mixed emotions when it comes to his personal music being created or released.  Everything from fear, anxiety, passion, love, fulfillment, to excitement, adrenaline and pride. No matter what, you can hear how much he loves putting on a show for his fans, with every word and every strum of his guitar. “I always leave the crowd with ‘WOW’ moments or just cool factors, no matter what size stage or platform I am performing on.”  Mike says.

Mike’s family, his wife and two boys, are his life. “The amount of support and strength they give me is incredible,” says Mike. He also gives them the credit for his music success. They are his support system. “It’s blessing for me to be able to do what I do and pursue music fulltime every day” Mike says, with a honest.

With Mike’s unique sound and heartfelt stage performances, he is the epitome of a country boy who knows how to bring real country music full circle.
