JORDYN STODDARD Interview by Christian Lamitschka for Country Music News International Magazine & Radio Show

  1. Lamitschka:  Do you write the songs yourself? If not, how do you go about finding the songs for your CD?

Answer: Yes, I write all the songs myself. I have a lot of friends in Nashville that I co-write with, that I have met over the last few years of living here. It’s nice to have a few creative minds in the room because that’s when the magic happens. This single that I have out called “Bad Baby” I wrote with my co-writer Peyton Porter.

  1. Lamitschka:  What is your favorite song among all the songs you have recorded and what's the story behind it?

Answer: I have a song that is not out quit yet, but hopefully will be out sooner than later. I wrote it earlier this year with writer Maddy Rodriguez. The song is called “Get to Know Her” and is one of the most honest songs I have ever been a part of. The idea behind this song came from a very vulnerable place and shares real emotions. It is easy to find yourself in a relationship where you are more concerned about being enough for “that person” and while doing so, you lose sight of yourself. This song describes that exact feeling and how it’s important to gain that independence back.

  1. Lamitschka:  Who inspires you musically and how deep do your musical roots run?

Answer: My parents inspire me daily, they have been my biggest supporters my whole life and have taught me that I should pursue my dreams. My dad took me to my first concert when I was little and it happened to be a Kenny Chesney concert. That night I was lucky enough to get pulled on stage and stand in front of thousands of people. From that moment I knew this was what I wanted to do. Since then my dad took me to piano lessons, voice lessons, guitar lessons, anything to do with music my parents were there. They have inspired to work hard every day and fight for my love of music.

  1. Lamitschka:  Are you doing anything to take music beyond its current borders or are you happy where it is?

Answer: My belief is you shouldn’t be boxed in when it comes to your music. It is completely okay to try new sounds and ideas, thats the whole part of being a creator. I am influenced by so many genres and sounds which reflect how I write and sing. I know my music pushes limits and boarders but it makes creating more interesting and exciting.

  1. Lamitschka:  When you get time off, how do you like to relax?

Answer: I really enjoy being with friends and family. If I am home in Nashville I try to spend the day with my friends. We normally go into the city and get lunch, shop and end the night by getting Jenis ice cream. If I am back home in Jacksonville I spend as much time with my family as possible. We love to spend time on the water fishing or just enjoying a boat day. Most of my family is back in Florida, so when I am home I am running around trying to visit as many family members as I can.

  1. Lamitschka:  How was the last year for you? What were your highlights?

Answer: Last year I spent most of my time writing new music. My highlights were meeting new songwriters and writing new music for everyone to hear. I am so excited about the new music and look forward to it being released.

  1. Lamitschka:  Do you have any interesting stories about how fans have been affected by your music?

Answer: I remember playing a show in Gainesville, Florida and playing a new song. One girl came up to me after the show and said how touched she was by my music and that  it made her cry. It is so powerful how music can affect people differently and it continues to amaze me that my music has that effect.

  1. Lamitschka:  What do you think about today's music industry?

Answer: I feel so fortunate to be apart of the changes happening in the music industry today. Streaming for example has grown so quickly and has allowed fans to interact and engage with some of their favorite artist. It inspires me as an artist to be involved in the process and connect more with fans.

  1. Lamitschka:  As an artist, you so many tasks such as recording, touring, interviews. What do you like best, what's your favorite activity?

Answer: I honestly enjoy every aspect to being an artist from interviews, shows, recording, etc. I will say that the live performance aspect is so thrilling and can sometimes be indescribable. Touring allows me to connect with old fans and new fans and hear how the music has inspired them. I love being able to travel to new places and meet as many people as possible. That is one oft he main reason why I do this to begin with.

  1. Lamitschka:  What drives you?

Answer: Knowing that I couldn’t possibly live without music. I am so passionate about writing and performing it’s become so normal in my life, that not doing it feels wrong. I get motivated by other artist stories about how it is not an easy road but the payoff is well worth it. I remind myself everyday that there will be moments of success and moments of struggle. I try to stay as grounded as possible and pursue my dreams.
