Darren Warren Delivers More Than a Party on Debut EP
Cowboy Up and Party Down, the debut EP by Darren Warren that’s available for download at AirPlay Direct, balances rowdy, late-night favorites with self penned poignant ballads. Traversing from Jesus to the jukebox on his premiere project, this Kentucky country boy recalls why he feels called to take the stage.
“When they come out to the show, you don’t know what people are going through,” says Darren. “If we can make them smile and can make them feel like they have hope for one more day, that’s what it’s all about!”
This album serves as a dream come true for a singer/songwriter who turned to music as a means of catharsis to fuel his passion for life during his battle with cancer. As a survivor who spent nearly three years in treatments at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Darren has devoted his life and music to help promote awareness and acquire funds for the care centers. Portions of the proceeds from both his EP and from his label NuCorp Entertainment will go directly to St. Jude.
“To walk back on that stage and look at all those little bald heads out there and tell them. ‘You can make it’ is the most humbling experience in the world,” says Darren. “It wasn’t that long ago, I was the one sitting there, looking up on that stage at Travis Tritt, Martina McBride and Aaron Tippin, so it is quite an experience to go back to St. Jude and be able to wrap my arms around those kids.”
It was his experience at St. Jude that provided the inspiration to his track “Go Get My Angel” written about a little girl who lost her battle to cancer while he was in the treatment facility. Randy Owen, Alabama lead singer and founder of Country Cares for St. Jude, was so moved when he heard the track that he joined Darren in studio when he was recording for his EP. “It’s one of the most life changing songs I have ever written and I was honored to have Randy sing on it,” says Darren.
