Corey Wagar Throws Gasoline on the Flaming

Corey Wagar Throws Gasoline on the Flaming New Single Set to Hit Radio
With the recent success of Corey Wagar’s first single, Hurricane, this young fiery country gal is back with a follow-up hit, I Hate My Boyfriend, which hit radio stations today, September 26th. Radio programmers can find it on Play MPE or on the newest CDX, Volume 532.
This is the second release off her debut album, On The Edge, which features 15 original tunes all co-written by Corey. “It’s important to have a hand in the writing process so I can feel a connection and so that each song has a piece of me in it,” says Corey.
I Hate My Boyfriend is a hot girl-power anthem that celebrates independence and reminds listeners that even when you are in a relationship, one should never falter in their own self image and belief. This song is Corey’s real life. “Although I was feeling like I Hate My Boyfriend at that time, I couldn’t help but think about how many times I heard this phrase from other girls,” remembers Corey. I was talking to Preston Brust of LoCash Cowboys and songwriter/guitarist Gordon Brown and before we knew it, we had a song written. It was also pretty entertaining watching two men throwing in their ideas,” laughs Corey.
With a musical style inspired by the likes of country stars Dolly Parton, Miranda Lambert, and Carrie Underwood, this New Jersey native grew up listening to country music and knew she would make a career out. She began writing early on and has recently teamed up with some of country music’s best known songwriters including artist Jamie O’Neal, Billy Montana (Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, etc), Rob Crosby (Brooks and Dunn, Trace Adkins, etc), Lonnie Wilson (Rascal Flatts, Martina McBride, Alan Jackson, Luke Bryan, etc) and Karen Staley (Faith Hill, Terri Clark, Leann Rimes, etc).
Her current album, On the Edge, was produced by renowned music producer, Kent Wells (Dolly Parton, Neal McCoy, Michael Peterson, etc) and shows a clear mix of contemporary and rocking country songs. For more information on Corey, please visit www.coreywagar.com.
