05 AUG 2011-CURTIS LYN COOK VISITS PURE COUNTRY C106.1 IN CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI
In the attached pictures: Curtis Lyn Cook and Susan Anderson Bell (aka The Girl) in front of a C106.1 banner in the studio in Cape Girardeau and Curtis Lyn Cook singing his heart out into a C106.1 microphone.
In early August recording artist Curtis Lyn Cook, aka CLC dropped by the studios of C106.1 and was a guest on the morning show with Cuzin’ Carl and The Girl. CLC was there to promote his new album Just My Luck that contains the single release You Can’t Have Her. CLC also invited everyone to come out to The Pink Galleon the following night to celebrate the Just My Luck album release party which was a huge success with a jammed packed house.
Cuzin’ Carl and Curtis Lyn Cook talked at length about the many years CLC has spent in the honky-tonks and clubs of South East Missouri and his undying commitment to the outlaw brand of music that has always been just a way of life for the performer. “The entire C106.1 broadcast team is like family to me and I consider them my home station” was what CLC had to say about the station. “They have always treated me like a top recording artist and have continually kept my music in their regular rotation in the 5 state area that includes SE Missouri, S. Illinois, W. Kentucky, W. Tennessee and NE Arkansas. Thanks to C106.1 FM my album sales have increased dramatically and my Live show arena has grown tremendously as well.”
The release of this album has also forged some new and very strong relationships with some top people in the music industry. Not least of which is his partnership and friendship with Joe Kent the head of T.J. Kent Music Group that owns the uniquely named Boat Trash Music and Sump Pump Records, the publisher/manager for Curtis Lyn Cook.
Joe Kent surprised CLC on the show by calling in unexpectedly to help promote his favorite artist. Joe, aka Captain Jocephus wanted the listeners to know that before he was CLC’s manager that he was a die-hard fan since the first time he viewed a YouTube Video of Outlaws http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poNeqfXCMmA by the Missouri singer. Outlaws by the way is also a track on the amazingly strong album Just My Luck. Joe talked about how CLC was his honky-tonk brother and took the time to thank C106 and all the listeners for being such supporters of the album and of Curtis Lyn Cook. C-106 has literally burned up the air waves with songs by CLC and have been a long time supporter of their hometown favorite performer. Joe also told the listeners that the music had branched out and that people from all over the country (in over a half dozen states and more than likely close to a dozen states) were tuning in to C106 to hear about CLC and his new album. The famed Music Row in Nashville certainly had their “ears on” that morning because of another strong bond that has developed for CLC.
In June Randy Matthews, the head of TCM Records and owner of the Nashville Music Guide ran an article written by Phil Sweetland, (contributor to the NY Times) and a half page ad on CLC in the magazine’s CMA, Fan Fair, collector’s edition and since that time has had the famous Big Joe Matthews of NMGRadio.com playing CLC extensively on their station.
That kind of exposure has created fame for Curtis Lyn Cook that now requires him to consider touring and performing venues outside of his local area. There are new adventures on the horizon for the great Curtis Lyn Cook and we can’t wait to hear what he does next. Outlaw, Honky-Tonk Country music is alive and well with the heart of that music beating in the chest of Curtis Lyn Cook. As Captain Jocephus stated before he ended his call with Cuzin’ Carl on C106, I’ll See You At The Top Of The Charts!!
“Curtis Lyn Cook’s Just My Luck CD preview and interview on C106.1 were huge successes. The phone lines lit up after hearing the new music and the stories behind the songs. CLC is always a favorite on C106.1 and we play his songs in heavy rotation. The response to the CD giveaways was by far one of the best we’ve had. Thanks Curtis Lyn Cook for letting us be a part of one of the best new projects out there.”
