COREY SMITH RELEASES THE BROKEN RECORD TODAY, JUNE 21

Television Performance on "Fox & Friends" set for July 10; Acoustic Performance at Mercury Lounge Announced for New York City on July 11

Nashville, Tenn. (Tuesday, June 21, 2011)-- “If Alternative music turned rock music from languid and stale into exciting and powerful, then that’s what Corey Smith and The Broken Record does for country music,” Roughstock wrote this week. With over 900,000 digital singles and 200,000 physical albums sold of past independent releases, Smith is breaking into the so-called ‘mainstream’ country music scene for the first time with a hell of a track record and a heaping fan-base that’s had his back from the beginning. His first nationwide release, The Broken Record, (produced by Rick Beato, Corey Smith) hits stores today, June 21, 2011, on Average Joe’s Entertainment (Colt Ford, Montgomery Gentry, more) and features the current single, “Twenty-One (2011).”

Corey Smith will perform over 100 shows in 2011 with untold promotional appearances and sold over 100,000 tickets in 2010 alone.
Having played over 650 shows from Georgia to Texas to Colorado to Vermont, sold over 700,000 tickets and sold out his first time at the well-respected Georgia Theatre in Athens in 2005, Smith says his multitude of fans are responsible for his ability to release his music to the masses. Once a high school teacher hailing from the small-town of Jefferson, Georgia, he hopes to use this chance in the mainstream public eye to educate and inspire people through his music.

“My goal as a writer and artist is to be heard,” Smith shared. “With this new album release and another exciting year of touring, I’m reminded how far I've come and how far I've yet to go.  I think of my family and friends, our community and the thousands of people across the country who've been in my corner over the years, cheering for me, believing in me and inspiring me; and I realize that music is more important than ever and that I am no longer content to use it as a means to only survive,” he said. “I desire to thrive.”

The seventeen-track album features new material (“I Love Everyone,” “No Way (Out with a Smile)," “Heart Attack,” “Broken Record,” “New Day,” “Sugar Daddy,” “Down to Earth,” and “Silly”) along with previously released, re-recorded crowd favorites such as current single “Twenty-One (2011)” and “If I Could Do It Again,” “Maybe Next Year,” “Carolina,” “Backroad,” and “Something to Lose.”

The Broken Record epitomizes where I am, both personally and professionally. It is my salute to continuity amidst the trumpets of change, reconciling the freedom and recklessness of my youth with the security and responsibility of the present,” Smith added.

Also, behind-the-scenes footage on the making of the new release is available on Comcast Xfinity’s Bands On Demand programming in Georgia.

Earlier this month, Smith made his first appearance at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville where he was emotionally moved by fans’ gift of approval in their overwhelmingly audible sing-along to his new single “Twenty-One” as he performed it for the first time in Music City. He recalled, “I cried like a baby and almost wrecked the ensemble, but I couldn’t help it. I was moved, damn it. Their voices echoed along the riverbanks like a mighty chorus of trusted old friends.”
